Your menu sounds delish, especially the low-cal chili! I will expect some left overs on Monday...LOL. Hope you have a great party, with great friends and of course your great food makes the day complete. Go Pats!

Sounds like s great time - hope you all enjoy. Just make sure that while you're partying that the Pats score touchdowns! Wish I could be there - I would raise the age bracket by a few years. Love you.

I am fortunate to have Linda as a dear friend. I am finishing a six month bout with chemotherapy, which has made my taste buds recoil from most foods. She has showered me with yummy soups, meatloaf, casseroles, and a never-ending supply of love and care. I will always remember her concern and food as one of the best parts of getting well!

The very best way to become a recipient of Linda's cooking is to give birth to her. She provides me with so many dinners that I rarely need to cook for myself. Each day I open my freezer and get to choose what I'd like to have for dinner that night. It's like eating at a great restaurant every night, except that the food was prepared with love, and the taste reflects all that. Thanks, honey - I love you!

I am lucky to have been not only a friend, but a recipent of your love for cooking. On several occasions, your delicious food has saved me a busy night of cooking, helped keep on my weight loss goal or just comforted me with a yummy sweet treat. Keep making people happy with your food, especially me, and you will have BFF's for life.

White asparagus is white because it never sees the light of day for the whole chlorophyll process to happen. Asparagus growers put straw over the emerging stalks so that they aren't affected by the sun. My neighbor, who we called Uncle Ray even though he wasn't a relative, grew asparagus, and when it was in season, he would go out with his knife and cut it at the quick, and share some with us. I wish I had appreciated it more as a kid! Doesn't get much fresher than that! Some people say that the white asparagus is more tender and sweeter, but I would be hard-pressed to tell the difference in a blind taste test. I use them interchangeably, depending on what looks good and fresh at the market. Use them together for a feast for the eyes, or use the color that would compliment the other meal components best.
