Website, Business Cards, Stationery, Tees— BEST IN SHOW!

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

I just returned from the 35th Annual Connecticut Art Directors Club Awards Show, and my design package earned BEST IN SHOW!  There were 320 entries, and some won Silver and Gold in different categories, and then each of the national judges were able to choose one piece they really liked and award that item an award.  Then… drumroll, please… came the announcement of the BEST IN SHOW!  I was SO proud!  This picture is of the artists/brainstormers/think tank people/masters of all things graphic at co:lab.  They all had their hand in putting together the pieces that went into the ID, and I am forever thankful for their hard work, energy, and ingenuity!

May Cookie Co.

Monday, March 29th, 2010

I have been in touch with Susan Nolte, who owns May Cookie Co.  I contacted her to see if she would be willing to donate to the JDRF Auction, because her product is perfect for people who need to/want to eat healthier.  She makes 3 different kinds of cookie mixes, using all-natural ingredients, whole grains, and less sugar, and staying clear of trans fats and preservatives.  She donated a huge basket of mixes and cookie-making supplies to the auction, and then gave me a box to try.  It was only on the counter for about 3 minutes before my kids started begging me to make them!  The packaging is beautiful and enticing!  I whipped them up in no time with easy instructions and just the few additions that were called for.  I used the raw sugar packet that was included, but next time, I will make them up using Splenda substitute, which is a much better alternative for Jack.  They baked up beautifully, smelled delicious, and tasted great, both warm and cool.  (And the dough was yummy, too!).  There was a nice balance of oatmeal and wheat flour, and the chocolate chips were of great quality!  These May Cookies are a quick fix to satisfy your sweet craving, and are a nice way to serve your family something sweet while being mindful of healthy eating.  Give ’em a try!

Girls’ Night Out!

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Girls’ Night Out at Tapa’s in Bloomfield.  YUM!  Bill and I had our first date at the Tapa’s West Hartford, and we closed the place down (they had to ask us to leave so they could lock the doors).  I am thankful that my friends like to share apps and entrees like I do; four of us ordered something different, and then shared.  It’s all about trying lots of different things, don’t you think?  Bill and I have done that for years, and we have modeled it so often that our kids have adopted it as the norm.  Alli is apt to say, “I am ordering the Chicken Caesar.  Who wants half, and can I have half of whatever you are getting?”  Kid after my own heart.
